Gallery of Zorkin, Yuri  »  The well-known Uzbek artist, Yury Zorkin, belongs to a generation of artists, whose path in art began in 1960. The artist was born in 1932 in Gorky (now Nizhny Novgorod, Russia). Since 1946 he has been living in Uzbekistan associated with years of study, creative development, and family ties. In 1950 he enrolled in the Republican Art College, where his teachers were S. Rakov and T. Oganesov and classmates Charyev R., A. Perov, B. Tokmin and A. Chertov. His studies were interrupted by service in the army and continued in 1955. After graduating from college in 1958 Yu. I. Zorkin worked in the publishing house "Uchpedgiz" and then, in 1960-1965. And he continued training at the Tashkent Theatre and Art Institute, where his teachers were R. Ahmed and M. Saidov. Since 1962 - from his student years and now, Yu. I. Zorkin is a regular participant in numerous exhibitions in Uzbekistan and abroad. The artist's creative range is wide and varied - easel painting, drawing and watercolor, work in the field of book publishing in literature and art. With Mr. Ghulam, "Yesh Guards" and others for 20 years has given to educational activities at the architectural faculty of the Tashkent Polytechnic Institute and Tashkent Theatre and Art Institute. Since 1968, Yu. I. Zorkin - Member of Union of Artists of Uzbekistan, member of International Open Air exhibits: in the Urals, in Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, and Bulgaria. The artist's works are in museum collections in Uzbekistan and private collections in many countries - Britain, Bulgaria, Germany, Israel, Italy, Korea, Malaysia, Turkey, France, Japan, etc. Yu. I. Zorkin - is a painter with a bright creative style, a romantic and a philosopher. Most of his paintings are devoted to Uzbekistan - the life of cities and villages, simple working people, history and folk art. He is an artist in love with this land, and his paintings are not indifferent spectators, touching intimate soul strings - "Night Tashkent", "Great Chemistry", "Metrostroevtsy", "Sogdiana", "Aral", "Grandma's cake", "Gultazhihuroz" "Spring" and many other works by the artist included in the classical school of painting of Uzbekistan. On the opening day the retrospective which opened recently at the Contemporary Art Center - the Tashkent House of Photography, includes over 100 works - easel paintings, drawings and watercolors by the artist in different years.  »  11/05/2010
